Norwoord Oaklands Residents Association (NORA)
The challenge: Like many resident associations, NORA needed a simple way to get residents more involved, understand what was happening across the community and turn individual complaints into a stronger collective voice.
How they use Smart Communities: NORA residents use Smart Communities to report local issues directly from the platform. Instead of scattered WhatsApp messages and individual complaints, the association can build a clearer picture of recurring issues and use community data to support follow-ups with the City and other stakeholders.
NORA also uses the Subscriptions feature to make it easier for residents to contribute towards community projects and ongoing improvements. This gives residents a simple way to support the work happening in their neighbourhood while helping the association build a more sustainable source of community funding.
The result: NORA is creating a more connected community where residents can report, contribute and see their participation translated into action.

Rocklands Gallo Manor (ZFHOA)
The challenge: Like many homeowners’ associations, ZFHOA needs to keep residents engaged, make it easy for them to support the community and ensure important incidents are reported quickly and effectively.
How they use Smart Communities: ZFHOA uses Smart Communities alongside Fidelity ADT to give residents a simple way to report incidents and stay connected to what is happening in their community. Instead of relying on scattered communication channels, residents have a central platform to report issues that matter and contribute towards the initiatives that keep their community safe and well maintained.
The Subscriptions feature also makes it easier for residents to support their community financially, helping ZFHOA build stronger participation around ongoing community needs and initiatives.
The result: ZFHOA is bringing community participation, incident reporting and resident support into one connected experience, making it easier for residents to play an active role in their community.

JoburgCAN
The challenge: Individual communities often experience the same service delivery problems but their concerns can be difficult to coordinate, track and escalate. Without reliable data, it is harder to show the scale of an issue or hold the right stakeholders accountable.
How they use Smart Communities: Communities using Smart Communities can share their service delivery data with JoburgCAN in real time, creating a broader picture of what is happening across Johannesburg.
JoburgCAN uses this collective community data to identify recurring service delivery challenges, strengthen the case for action and represent community concerns at the highest levels of the City.
For community leaders, this means issues reported by residents don't have to stop at the individual complaint. They can become part of a collective evidence base that helps drive engagement, escalation and accountability.
The result: Community organisations are better equipped to move from “we have a problem” to “here is the evidence, here is where it is happening, and here is what needs to change.”
